KNOP-TV, the NBC affiliate in North Platte, NE, seeks a news leader who’s ready for the challenge of leading one of the highest-rated news stations in the country.
The experienced candidate will lead the development of news content on
television, streaming, mobile, and various other platforms. Most importantly, the candidate must aspire to lead a wonderful team of journalists, including veterans and those just starting out, to serve the local community with a tradition of excellence.
General Responsibilities:
• Protect and defend journalistic integrity of the news product
• Manage daily editorial decisions
• Supervise and schedule news personnel
• Hire and supervise training of news staff
• Participate with station staff in the development of local issue and event coverage plans
• Work closely with the staff to distribute content on all platforms
• Be ready to fill-in for critical positions as needed
• Effectively communicate goals and plans for the newsroom and ensuring those plans are carried out by all staff
members
• Ensure the news team follows best practices on all platforms
Qualifications:
• A proven record of success in leadership, production and distribution of local news, and development of talent
• Strong leadership skills and excellent news judgment
• At least 3 years of experience in a news editorial position
• A successful track record utilizing multi-media digital assets maximizing how news is covered and distributed
• A passion for production and storytelling, combined with an unwavering commitment to journalistic ethics and
standards
• A community-minded spirit and vision to expand the station’s outreach and impact
