2015-2016 Slate of Candidates Officers and Board of Directors

Amanda Peterson: Online Specialist, Senior Media Buyer, Redstone
Amanda graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha with a degree in Journalism, majoring in advertising and public relations. Amanda has worked at Redstone for 8 years, where she is involved planning and buying traditional and online media for many of Redstone’s key clients.

Amanda served on the Omaha Federation of Advertising’s board as Program Chair, Meet the Pros Co-Chair and After Hours Co-Chair. She has also volunteered on the Public Service committee.  In 2003, she was the Omaha Federation of Advertising’s Rookie of the Year.

Laura Spaulding:  Manager Corporate Communications, Bozell
Laura joined Bozell in 2006 as a business development coordinator and was promoted to manager in 2007. In 2010, Laura was named Manager of Corporate Communications, where she coordinates all internal projects, including new business, Bozell materials, press releases, website content management, social media and Thinking, Bozell’s quarterly publication. Laura is also the account lead for several clients, including College World Series of Omaha, Inc., Make-A-Wish Nebraska, and H&H Chevrolet and H&H Kia. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree majoring in Journalism and completed her MBA, both from Creighton University.  

Lisa Conklin:  Senior Media Buyer, A&K Marketing
Lisa Conklin joined A&K in November 2014. Lisa has over 10 years of advertising sales support and media buying experience. Prior to employment at A&K, Lisa served as Media Director at Envoy, Inc., and prior to that gained experience working for Cox Media, Morningfire, Inc., Bozell, and Omaha World-Herald.

While earning a journalism degree, Lisa developed a passion for all things media and pop-culture, and advertising became a natural fit. Lisa enjoys building media plans that drive results for her broad range of clients while optimizing their budgets, and she enjoys learning about new mediums as they become relevant and bring new opportunities to the table.

Lisa has been an AAF member off and on since 2005 and volunteered with the communications committee from 2011-2015, serving as committee co-chair from the 2012-2013 club year through the 2014-2015 club year. Lisa was an active volunteer with Make-A-Wish from 2008-2012 and currently volunteers for the Boyd Elementary PTA. 

Matt Wilson:   Marketing Design Manager, First National Bank
Matt Wilson currently works for First National Bank as a Marketing Design Manager. He is a graduate of the University of Nebraska at Omaha and holds a bachelor’s degree in communications with a minor in graphic design. He also holds an associates degree in English/writing and history from Metropolitan Community College. Wilson’s previous experience includes tenures with First Bankcard, SKAR Advertising, and Pioneer Investments. Matt is proud to serve on the AAFO Executive Board and is looking forward to the 2015-2016 year as Chairman.

Paula Steenson:  President, Paula Presents!
Celebrating 30+ years in the advertising/event planning field.  Paula started her company in 1980 and currently works with her husband Tom and collaborates with a variety of other professionals in the PR, media and event planning world here in Omaha and beyond.

The company does everything from designing print collateral on a national level to planning and executing non-profit and corporate events and conferences locally, regionally and nationally.  Paula still truly loves what she does and is glad she has had the opportunity to keep learning and growing.

Paula was on the Board of AAF Omaha for 10 years serving in a number of positions including President.  She was happy to return to serve as co-chair for the 2012 ADDYs and 2014 ADDYs and is looking forward to co-chairing AAF ADDYS 2016 with Mark Carpenter and having it at a very unusual downtown Omaha location. 

Lisa Healy: VP | Account Director, Webster
After more than a decade at Webster, Lisa heads up the account team and describes herself as “a pivotal cog in the Webster machine.” Lisa has led such accounts as ConAgra Foods, TD Ameritrade and Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo. A graduate of the University of Missouri J-school (as in journalism, not jerky), she cut her teeth on national tourism and retail accounts at MMGY Global and Bernstein-Rein in Kansas City before returning to her hometown of Omaha. Lisa also manages to corral two small children with a freakish, though not surprising, level of efficiency.

Angel Carl:  President, Angel Carl Marketing
Angel Carl is a “tenured” (not old) marketing professional, with both agency and client-side experience.  After 14 years with Bozell & Jacobs, she went client side, working for organizations such as Right at Home, Inc., and The Maids International.

This will not be her first ride on the Public Service rodeo: She served on the Board of AAF Omaha, then referred to as the Omaha Federation of Advertising, from 1993 to 2004, serving as the Public Service Committee Chair for several years, and then as President and eventually Chair.  As the Public Service Chair, the club was recognized with many awards for the work, including AAF’s Silver Bell Award in 1998. She was honored with the Ad Pro of the Year in 2005.

And yes, she is aware many of you reading this were not born yet.  And it pains her deeply.

Growing weary of the safety, comfort and security that comes with employment, she opened the doors of Angel Carl Marketing in 2013.  She works with clients as a marketing team member and connects clients to the right creative people to get the job done efficiently and effectively.

Bob Mancuso:  Director, Mid-America Expositions, Inc.
Bob joined Mid-America Expo in 2005.  Their company produces trade shows, events, and festivals.  The Omaha Health & Wellness Expo, the Triumph of Agriculture Expo – Farm & Ranch Machinery Show, the Taste of Omaha, the Nebraska Balloon & Wine Festival, and the Omaha Products Show for Business & Industry are a few of their shows.

Prior to joining Mid-America Expo, Bob worked at Mutual of Omaha in the Customer Service Division and also worked at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.  He is a graduate of Iowa State University and has a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Creighton University.

Bob has been a member of AAF Omaha since 2011 and has been on the Public Service Committee since 2012.  He is looking forward to serving a second term on the AAF Omaha Board of Directors.

April Clark: Regional Sales Manager, CAS: a direct marketing service bureau
A graduate of Bellevue University, April has been in the direct marketing arena for more than 30 years.  A big supporter of the Mid America Direct Marketing Association, she was on their board from 1983 to 2012, serving as secretary for many years, treasurer, VP and as President twice.

April handles sales for CAS in list brokering, letter shop, email and data cleansing, email deployment, data processing, and other marketing services. In the course of selling services, she rubs elbows with almost all the local direct marketing folks!

A native of Connecticut, April attended the University of CT and then lived in Monterey CA, San Angelo TX, and in Bellevue and Papillion since 1971. Married for nearly 40 years to Jon, Mom to Bob, and Grandma to Michaela, Amanda and Dylan – family is very important. Her interests include gardening, sewing, church activities, walking, TaeKwonDo and Relay for Life.

Mark Carpenter: Partner, VP of Creative Strategy and Production Services, SKAR
Mark has been a Nebraska advertising professional for 31 years, and he looks every day of it. He’s worked at The Daily Nebraskan, Boles Advertising, Lovgren Marketing Group, Ayres+Kahler, Fusebox and is currently a partner at SKAR.

Mark taught marketing at Creighton University for six years and has created advertising for more regional brands than there’s room to list here.

When it comes to AAF Omaha, you’ll usually find Mark writing questions for AdWars or sticking his nose into the ADDYs. So as you’d expect, he’ll be co-chair of the 2016 Nebraska ADDYs.

In his spare time, Mark reads a lot about advertising history and architecture, cooks up an storm and sees a couple of movies every weekend.

Sheila O’Connor: Executive Director of Public Affairs, Metropolitan Community College (NE)
Sheila O’Connor is the Executive Director Public Affairs for Metropolitan Community College (NE), a 40,000-student community college serving the greater Omaha area. As the college’s chief communications executive, O’Connor develops internal and external communication plans for the college based upon strategic planning, and educates the public on the college’s programs, course offerings and resources. O’Connor has more than 25 years experience in public relations, marketing, community and economic development and government relations. O’Connor is a graduate of the University of Nebraska Lincoln and is a member of several professional organizations including Council for Resource Development, University Economic Developers Association, American Advertising Federation and American Association of University Women.

Teonne A. Wright: A Freelance Multimedia (web, print, video) Designer, Developer, Photographer, Artist, Music Freak, and a lover of all things creative. Teonne is the Webmaster at UNO Criss Library and Communications Director for Greater Beth-el Temple Ministries.

Wright is an enthusiastic and professional multimedia creative with a solid background in graphic design and web development that enjoys being part of, as well as leading, a successful and productive communications team. She has over twenty-two years of freelance experience, sixteen years of experience working within the University of Nebraska academic organization, seventeen years of teaching experiences and over twenty years of experience leading design, audiovisual, and communications teams for several non-profit organizations. Teonne is skilled in developing and implementing print, social and mobile media campaigns, art direction, event planning, and photography.

She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Art and in Graphic Design from Dana College and Master of Arts degree in Journalism and Mass Communications, specializing in Advertising from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. Teonne became involved in American Advertising Federation (AAF) while pursuing her Masters’ degree. She joined the UNO Ad Club in 2008 and was co-president 2009 to 2011. Teonne was a 2011 American Advertising Federation Omaha (AAF Omaha) scholarships award recipient.

Edward Hunt:  President/Creative Director, Darkside Advertising, Inc.
Ed Hunt was determined to join impressive marketing results with fierce creativity and Darkside Advertising was born. Using the nearly 20 years of business experience, Ed continues to provide award-winning campaigns and fresh ideas. A long-time member of many professional organizations including AAF Omaha he realizes the importance of connections, both for new business and education.

Darkside Advertising proudly provides small businesses with large-agency service. The years of being art and creative director at Meridian Advertising and Heartland Marketing & Communications have honed Ed’s creative-marketing vision into the ability to create successful business ideas.

David Lempp:  Local Sales Manager, Viamedia
David Lempp, Local Sales Manager for Viamedia, has over a decade of marketing experience and achievement with the majority of it focused in the Omaha market including positions with Pappas Broadcasting, Titan Broadcasting, Sinclair Broadcasting, and BH Media. His experience as a Bilingual Account Executive, Research Director, and Marketing Consultant made him well suited for his current role. Viamedia proudly represents CenturyLink in Omaha. In addition, the company partners with satellite, telecom, and cable systems in 70+ markets plus specializes in providing digital audience strategy to clients. David is an Omaha native and a University of Nebraska—Lincoln graduate.

Jill Regester:  Director, Marketing Communications, WoodmenLife
Jill Regester serves WoodmenLife (f.k.a.Woodmen of the World) as Director of Marketing Communications.

In her role, she is responsible for the direction, development and implementation of WoodmenLife’s overall marketing communications efforts, including developing and managing department staff responsible for internal and external communications planning and implementation. This includes web and online initiatives, advertising programs, public and media relations, social media, and crisis communications.

Jill earned her Bachelors of Journalism and Mass Communications in Advertising from University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1995. She has also earned her FIC designation.

Prior to joining WoodmenLife as Communications Manager in 2007, she worked at the Omaha World-Herald, Meridian Advertising and Goldstar Global.

Regester serves on the American Fraternal Alliance Fraternal & Communications Board, and is a member of the American Advertising Federation; the Public Relations Society of America; the American Marketing Association; and the International Association of Business Communicators.

Her husband is Mike Regester. They have two sons, Maxwell and Hugh. In her spare time, she enjoys volunteering, reading, golfing, cooking, and playing with her Great Dane Fred.

Daryl Anderson: Creative Director, Clark Creative Group
Daryl Anderson is a multidisciplinary creative director with over 20 years experience in marketing strategy, corporate branding and continuity. He graduated from Northwest Missouri State University and received a BFA with emphasis in Graphic Design. Daryl began his career in industries such as fashion and beauty, food and grocery, and health care. After honing skills in critical thinking, brand development and management from the inside out, he was nabbed by Clark Creative Group. When he’s not helping to inspire fellow art directors, copywriters, video editors and web developers in producing award winning marketing, he can be found immersing himself in foreign cultures or out playing in the dirt.

Christin Molacek: Marketing Operations Assistant, Children’s Hospital & Medical Center
Christin Molacek has been part of the Children’s Hospital & Medical Center marketing team since February 2014. She strategizes the overall operations in marketing. She manages, coordinates and executes project objectives by planning and evaluating project activities at Children’s.

Being organized and detail oriented are two of Christin’s best traits. She coordinates sponsorships for the hospital, manages all finances for the department and is a key component for many Children’s events. She is often out and about at outreach events interacting with patients and their families, as well as the community. She provides content and helps design various projects for the organization as well.

Christin graduated with her bachelor’s in biology from College of Saint Mary in Omaha (2014). She is currently working towards her master’s degree in healthcare administration at Clarkson College. She keeps busy by working fulltime, going to graduate school and planning a wedding. She and her fiancé Tim get married in October 2015.

Sean Heisler: Senior Art Director, Webster
After more than 19 years at Webster, Sean is a Senior Art Director and describes himself as having a debilitating affliction of being acutely aware. Sean has worked on such accounts as ConAgra Foods, TD Ameritrade and Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo. A graduate of Iowa State University he came to Omaha and got onboard with Webster where he has been ever since. Sean has garnered many local and national awards as well as having work featured in publications such as Print, Graphis, Communication Arts and Logo Lounge. Sean is also a father of three, an audiophile, former drummer and music lover.

Ann Bailey: Marketing Design Coordinator, Goodwill Industries, Inc.- Serving Eastern Nebraska and Southwest Iowa.
After graduating from The Art Institute of Las Vegas with her bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Ann Bailey returned to her hometown of Omaha.  She got a job designing shirts and store signage for a local sporting goods company, where her passion for design flourished.  In 2013, Ann received a new job opportunity at Goodwill Industries, Inc. in Omaha, where she could use her design skills to help an organization with a mission to help people in the community.

Ann’s talents were quickly recognized at Goodwill, and she was promoted to Marketing Design Coordinator within a year.  Now, Ann oversees all design work for the entire agency, including store signage, billboards and magazine advertisements for 17 retail stores and direct mail pieces for the development department.

Ann is a member of the North Omaha Kiwanis Club, where she has volunteered to take on much of their design work as well as plan events and fundraisers.  When not busy designing, she enjoys spending time with her fiancé, two dogs, and friends. 

Christine Dunn: Event Project Coordinator, Vic Gutman and Associates
Christine Dunn currently works for Vic Gutman and Associates as an Event Project Coordinator. She is a graduate of the University of Nebraska at Omaha and earned a bachelor’s degree in communications with a concentration in PR and advertising. At VGA, Christine works on the marketing, social media and event planning for community events such as the Omaha Summer Arts Festival, ARTsarben and the Holiday Lights Festival, among other local non-profit events. Christine has been involved with the AAF Omaha chapter as a volunteer and member for five years, primarily as a student ambassador for Meet the Pros while president of the UNO Ad Club. She looks forward to taking on a larger roll in the 2016 Meet the Pros conference as a co-chair.

Allison Lewis: Advertising, Marketing and Communication Professional
Allison recently moved to Omaha the end of this past January with her husband’s new job. She is very excited to get more involved in AAF Omaha as a brand new member. She recently worked for the past five years as an Outreach and Enrollment Marketing Coordinator for Hennepin Technical College in the Minneapolis area.

She was very involved with the AAF Cincinnati before moving to Minneapolis. She was VP and President of AD2, the young professional division of the AAF Cincinnati. While she was president, she won the bid to host the Midyear Retreat, which ended up being a huge success.

Allison has experience in recruitment, admissions, client development, and advertising.

Allison recently created her own mommy blog, www.notamorningmom.com.

Allison grew up on the Jersey Shore, and graduated from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business with majors in Marketing and Operations Management with a Spanish Minor.

Michael Johnson will continue to advise the AAF Omaha Board of Directors and will serve on the AAF District 9 Board of Governors as our District’s Second Lieutenant Governor

Michael Johnson: Senior Copywriter, Bailey Lauerman
Michael Johnson is Senior Copywriter at Bailey Lauerman, an advertising agency in Omaha, Nebraska with a long legacy of employing extremely handsome writers.

Michael is a ten-year veteran of the ad industry, and was named AAF Omaha’s 2015 Ad Pro of the Year. He started volunteering with AAF as Co-Chair of Omaha’s Meet the Pros student conference. Since then, he’s served as President and Chairman of AAF Omaha

He looks forward to serving District 9 and running the District American Advertising Awards.
