On November 15, 2018, AAF Omaha hosted our sixth annual BOOM! Roasted event, honoring our 2019 Ad Pro, Ad Rookie and our guests of honor, the Ervin Family. Alli Carlson of Redstone received the Ad Rookie award and Amanda Peterson, also of Redstone, received the Ad Pro award.
The Ervins were then roasted and toasted by David Moore and Ernie Bredar of Bozell and Susan Rosenlof of Omaha Marian, and Frank Ervin was inducted into the AAF Omaha Legends of Advertising Hall of Fame. Omaha advertising legend Frank Ervin had ten children with his wife Loretta. All of their children grew into the creative arts, either professionally or in their personal lives. Notably, Pat Ervin founded Ervin & Smith advertising with Doug Smith and now owns Fountain Creek DezignWorks, Bill and Tom Ervin own EG Integrated, and Bob Ervin founded Robert Ervin Photography. Other Ervin children and grandchildren have careers in illustration, art direction, graphic design, animation, fashion design, among other creative arts.
For the first time at BOOM! Roasted, AAF Omaha hosted a silent art auction benefiting a scholarship to go to a Meet the Pros student in the Ervin name. The silent art auction featured 30 pieces by local artists, many by Ervins themselves.
