Jeffrey DeLong Named 2015 Barton A. Cummings Gold Medal Award Recipient
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Jeffrey DeLong, Senior Technology Manager at Jumpstart Automotive Group, and longtime member of the American Advertising Federation, was chosen to receive the 2015 Barton A. Cummings Gold Medal Award. For the past 17 years, Jeffrey has devoted his time and talents to many different programs, leadership roles and committees giving AAF countless hours of volunteer time. In the true spirit of the award, Jeffrey is one of the distinguished individuals that the award recognizes for volunteer service to advertising through volunteer work with the AAF.
Awarded annually, it is named in honor of the late Bart Cummings, whose extraordinary career was dedicated to industry service and to advancing the social and economic values of advertising.
Jeffrey’s volunteer work with AAF began as a member of his local club, AAF Lincoln, where he served on several committees, becoming the go to person for the American Advertising Awards program, known then as the ADDY Awards. He was quickly elevated to club leadership, serving as club president and then on to his leadership role with AAF’s District 9 where he served with distinction as District Governor and a member of AAF’s National Board of Directors. During this time, Jeffrey was tapped to serve the American Advertising Awards program and served as appointed Vice Chair of Technology for the National American Advertising Awards Committee. He served in this role until his retirement from the committee in 2014. It was during that time that Jeffrey was instrumental in the growth and development of what is now recognized as one of the most prestigious awards program in the country. It is through Jeffrey’s knowledge and creativity that the AAF is able to conduct this most successful program at all three levels of the competition; local, district and national.
“It is through Jeffrey’s knowledge and creativity that the AAF is able to conduct this most successful program at all three levels of the competition: local, district and National,” says Joanne Schecter, EVP of AAF Club Services.
Jeffrey will be honored at the Opening Ceremonies of AAF’s national conference, ADMERICA, on June 11, 2015. Every year the conference brings leading advertising professionals, agencies, clients, media companies and college students under one roof for education, inspiration, innovation, collaboration and celebration of the advertising industry. The conference also showcases the industry’s best work in the American Advertising Awards, and future talent with the NSAC finals and Diversity Achievement and Mosaic Awards.
