AAF President and CEO, James Edmund Datri, was the featured keynote speaker who presented the State of the Federation and the latest work and benefits offered by AAF.The conference included workshops and roundtable discussions for sharing ideas and gathering information for a successful year of club management. The keynote luncheon featured a panel discussion, “Doing Business in a Shifting Market Place,” moderated by Steve Petranik, Editor of Hawaii Business Magazine. Panelists included John Sereni, Management Supervisor, MVNP for the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau, Kevin Inn, President of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Advantage Realty and Bryan Andaya, Chief Operating Officer for L&L Hawaiian Barbecue.

Advertising Week DC
Advertising Week DC (ADWKDC), a hands-on training and networking conference for marketing professionals, officially kicked off on September 28 with an inspiring talk from award-winning National Geographic and advertising photographer, Dick Durrance, at Agency Chief in Dupont Circle.
The conference, produced by the DC Ad Club and now in its 12th year, featured multiple networking events, a nationally-recognized class on Advertising Ethics, and culminated in a two-day conference on Thursday and Friday packed with sessions and keynotes across strategy, media and creative disciplines.
 
Conference attendees heard from more than 70 speakers from organizations that included: New York Times, Discovery Communications, The Atlantic, The Ad Council, Huffington Post and many more.
The week concluded on October 3 with CREATE, a one-day event hosted at Facebook’s DC offices, where students and young professionals came together to create actionable plans to solve the marketing challenges of DC area nonprofits.

Central Region Review
For an event during which “change” was a recurring theme, the 2015 AAF Central Region Conference was in the perfect location. Kansas City’s Union Station complex includes magnificently restored historic spaces, as well as a state-of-the-art Extreme Screen large-format theater. The contrast highlighted the “Crossroads” theme as nearly 300 AAF members from throughout the Midwest heard from industry experts on changes in media, demographics and business and club dynamics.
Professional development programs included case studies of the Kansas City area, Boulevard Brewing and the growth of local agency VML. Club development topics ranged from developing strong sponsorship programs to effective use of social media.
