(Omaha, NE, October 31, 2018) The American Advertising Federation Omaha (AAF Omaha) announces the winners for Ad Pro and Ad Rookie of the Year. Amanda Peterson, Redstone will be recognized as Ad Pro of the Year and Alli Carlson, Redstone will be honored as Ad Rookie of the Year at AAF Omaha’s BOOM! The Ervins, including Frank and his 10 children, Bill, Bob, Pat, Mark, Greg, Steve, Tom, Denise, Kathy and Marilou, are synonymous with advertising and design in the Omaha community.
Ad Pro of the Year award is given to an AAF Omaha member who has a distinguished track record of service in advertising including professional and community service, with attention to AAF Omaha service. Amanda Peterson joined Redstone in 2007 and was recently promoted to media director. She has nearly 20 years of traditional, digital and social media buying experience and recently led the agency’s largest class of certifications for Google Ads which saw seven team members become experts in the online search platform.
Peterson is a graduate of the University of Nebraska Omaha and has been involved with AAF since 1998, as an AAF UNO student ad club member. Peterson attended AAF Omaha’s annual student conference, Meet the Pros, during her collegiate years and was a member of UNO’s National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC) team. This NSAC team won at the AAF District 9 stage and went on to nationals in Washington, D.C. Peterson has continued her membership with the federation as a professional for nearly twenty years and has served on every AAF Omaha committee as a team member or leader. In 2003 Peterson was honored as AAF Omaha’s Ad Rookie of the Year. Peterson served on the AAF Omaha executive team from 2013 through 2017. In June of 2016, Peterson was named AAF’s Division III National Club of the Year President, and in July 2016 she was honored as the AAF District 9 President of the Year.
The Ad Rookie of the Year award is given to an AAF Omaha member with five or fewer years in the advertising business who demonstrates outstanding work both professionally and, in the community, with attention to AAF Omaha service. Alli Carlson currently serves as account supervisor at Redstone. Carlson has served on AAF Omaha’s Board of Directors and has co-chaired the federation’s Special Events team for the past four years. Carlson has shown her leadership and dedication to AAF Omaha year after year, developing and implementing AAF Omaha fundraising efforts with her co-chair and team members. Lisa Healy, AAF Omaha’s president stated “Alli’s passion for the industry and AAF Omaha is very apparent. Alli has proven herself to be a great asset to the Special Events team. She is smart, energetic and always up for a new challenge. Alli shows great potential for growth and leadership in AAF Omaha and in her advertising career.”
Carlson is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Journalism and Mass Communications. As an account supervisor, Alli works to understand client marketing goals and then works to make them happen in partnership with the creative and media teams at Redstone. As a Minnesota native, Alli worked in the marketing department of a Twin Cities credit union prior to moving to Omaha. Before landing at Redstone, she helped plan annual events as the development coordinator at the American Red Cross. Her experience on both the agency and client side has helped her successfully manage multiple accounts at Redstone.
Jim Svoboda, President & CEO at Redstone was recently notified of his team members’ upcoming honors and stated, “One thing I love most about Redstone is that every day our team gives us something we can all be proud of. Alli and Amanda are both true professionals and have really put in the work to earn this recognition and we couldn’t be happier for them.”
Peterson and Carlson come highly recommended by their peers and colleagues for demonstrating outstanding work ethic as well as dedication in advocacy to AAF Omaha.
