Five Things You Didn’t Know About Jim Janicki

Hello! My name is Jim Janicki. I am the Vice President of Marketing and Communications/Shareholder at Hillcrest Health Services, a health system providing a full continuum of care for aging adults. I was recruited from Richmond, VA to Omaha by CEO Jolene Roberts four years ago to join Hillcrest’s executive team. I previously served as a national consultant for senior living. I’m responsible for all marketing, advertising, promotion, PR, sales/census and replacing the 5-gallon jugs in the office water cooler.

I am currently serving on the AAF Omaha Membership Committee. I have plenty of AAF experience – served on the board of the Ad Club of Buffalo for 7 years including two years as president. Also served as a lieutenant governor for AAF District II.

I also have my APR (Accreditation in Public Relations) through PRSA.

If you could be anyone in the world for a day, who would you be and why?

Bill Murray, because if I was lucky the day might repeat over and over and over… (besides he’s my hero).

What do you do in your free time? Any hobbies?

I play on three different adult beer league ice hockey teams, I bicycle (and did RAGBRAI for the first time this year), I sing in my church choir, I do medieval fighting in the SCA (google “SCA fighting” and you’ll see what I mean), I love to cook and I’m a single dad raising two teenage girls. Thus, I never sleep. Ever.

What was your first job?

My first job was McDonald’s. I was second generation because my dad worked there in the 1960s. I’m still trying to talk my 15 year old into being a 3rd generation grill cook. Oh, and I was selected “crew member of the month” in my 2nd month.
