AAF Grass Roots Network Annual Leadership Identified


Washington, DC, July 16, 2021—Each year, the American Advertising Federation welcomes new leaders committed to furthering the mission of the organization and advertising industry. This year is no exception. Three exemplary leaders and long-time supporters have been identified and look to impact great change in the coming year. We congratulate Larry Brantley, Tina Tsang and David Campbell on their new roles and willingness to further their AAF leadership journey.

Larry Brantley Elected AAF National Chair, Council of Governors

With more than 30 years experience in the communications, advertising and marketing fields, Larry Brantley, president at Chaloner, has been elected Chair of the 2021-2022 AAF Council of Governors. A former District 10 Governor and AAF member since 1990, Brantley’s experience in the advertising industry paired with his current national and international talent placement business position Brantley for further success in this role.

“The AAF is in very good hands with this excellent Team of volunteer leaders who help guide and shape our powerful “grass roots” Club Network all across North America. Larry Brantley brings 30+ years of experience and his extensive background of connecting people with possibilities,” AAF President and CEO Steve Pacheco said.

Along with the Council of Governors executive team and chief among Brantley’s goals for the year is to further develop educational opportunities for AAF members and grow membership as it specifically relates to young professionals.

“The work done by the Council of Governors is extremely valuable to the overall success of AAF. We are absolutely thrilled to have the expertise and work ethic of Larry Brantley at the helm of this committee and as an officer of the national board of directors. In his previous two years on this committee, he has already provided great insight,” Dawn Reeves, AAF vice president said.

He has worked with such firms as JCPenney, HP, Perdue Farms, McDonalds, Texas Instruments, Johnson Outdoors, PRSA, TracyLocke, MaDougall Biotech, Phillips 66, Frito-Lay and Edelman. Additionally, Brantley has placed brand, creative, account service, interactive/web, public relations, marketing, media, traffic, production and other executive level talent. Brantley splits his time between Dallas and New York City.

The AAF Council of Governors is comprised of a four-member executive team, 15 District Governors and national Ad 2 Chair, each representing the interests and concerns of their respective local ad club members.

Tina Tsang Elected AAF National Ad 2 Chair

Tina Tsang was recently elected as the Ad 2 National chair. A digital marketing consultant, Tsang brings fresh perspective and readily fosters open discussion geared to move the organization and industry in a forward direction.

Ad 2 works with the AAF to foster the professional development for advertising professionals under the age of 32 and has a long-standing commitment to public service.

As the Ad 2 national chair, Tsang will continue work with her executive team (she has been a member of the leadership two years previously), the Council of Governors and serve as a member of the AAF national board of directors. The four-member Ad 2 executive committee has worked diligently the last few years to grow membership and heighten opportunities for the young professionals they represent.  This past year, Ad 2 SoCal joined the ranks of Ad 2 chapters, demonstrating a growing interest along the west coast.

“Tina brings an unparalleled level of enthusiasm to every conversation. She believes in the mission of Ad 2, the industry and has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to AAF. We are lucky to have her as the Ad 2 national chair and welcome her to the AAF board of directors,” Reeves said.

Tsang’s focus for the coming year is to amplify diverse voices and perspectives in the industry. Under her guidance, Ad 2 National started their first DE&I cohort, serving to connect DE&I leaders in a safe space.

According to Tsang, her clients range from national brands such as Mars Wrigley Confectionary and Lexus to local clients in the Southwest. She started her advertising career in Dallas working at agencies such as The Richards Group, TM Advertising, BBDO, and iProspect before deciding to work for herself.

David Campbell Appointed Chair National American Advertising Awards Committees

In addition to his role as Chernoff Newman Chief Operations Officer, David Campbell was recently appointed Chair of the National American Advertising Awards Committee (N3AC), a group of committees collectively instrumental in ensuring the integrity of the largest creative competition in the United States.

Conducted annually, the three-tier competition begins at the local level with winners advancing to district competitions and then to the national stage. Campbell will be responsible for oversight of committee members representing their districts, the rules and categories, entry-specific opportunities and more.

“History with his advertising and public relations agency as well as time spent as a financial analyst serve as evidence, he was meant to lead this committee,” Reeves shared.

“David Campbell is a proven leader. He has been an active participant in all aspects of the American Advertising Awards. His counsel and perspective will help lead positive change as the Awards continues to evolve with the industry.”

In addition to serving as vice chair of the collective last year, Campbell is a former Council of Governors Chair, District 3 Governor and the 2021 recipient of the Pat Martin Excellence in Service Award. He serves on a wide variety of boards in his home base, South Carolina.
