Under the Creative Nebraska clouds, on February 20th during the American Advertising Awards AAF Nebraska honored a leader who represents the very best of creativity, innovation, and legacy in Nebraska’s advertising and marketing community.
The American Advertising Federation’s Silver Medal Award Program was established in 1959 to recognize men and women who have made outstanding contributions to advertising, and who have been active in furthering the industry’s standards, creative excellence, and responsibility in areas of social concern.
Silver Medal recipients are selected by a panel of judges who are past AAF Nebraska presidents and active veteran members, involved in advertising, marketing and communications in Nebraska.
Doug Buchanan, the CEO of RENZE, a company deeply woven into the fabric of the Omaha community was honored as AAF Nebraska’s 2026 Silver Medal Winner. As a third-generation owner of this remarkable organization – now more than 130 years strong – Doug carries forward a legacy built on craftsmanship, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to quality.
RENZE is known for its large-scale exhibits, branded environments, and event displays, with work featured in many of the region’s most recognizable businesses, as well as organizations across the country. Under Doug’s leadership, that legacy continues to evolve in bold and exciting ways.
A graduate of the University of Nebraska at Omaha, Doug embodies the spirit of lifelong learning and creative curiosity. He also comes from a true family of innovators — and car enthusiasts. From his grandfather’s Voisin and Tucker, to his father’s Morgan and Dodge Viper, to Doug’s own collection of British and European classics, his appreciation for design, engineering, and storytelling runs deep.
Recently, Doug found a way to bring those passions together with the launch of Garage Graphics® — a venture made possible by combining dye-sublimation fabric printing technology with LED backlighting to produce museum-scale lightbox graphics for car collectors up to 10 feet by 40 feet and more. It’s a striking example of how tradition and innovation can coexist — and how creativity can be reimagined across generations.
Recently RENZE announced a strategic leadership transition, with Doug stepping into the role of CEO, and naming his son, Scott, a 20-year veteran of RENZE, as President, ensuring that the company’s legacy of excellence continues well into its fourth generation. It’s a role he fills with vision, humility, and deep respect for both the past and the future.
Doug, and his wife Dawn, cherish time with family and friends. They are actively involved with the Nebraska Humane Society, The Durham Museum and the Henry Doorly Zoo, among many other community organizations.
For his leadership, his creativity, his commitment to our industry, and his lasting impact on our community, AAF Nebraska was proud to present the 2026 Silver Medal Award to Doug Buchanan.
