AAF Nebraska Legislative Update | July 2024

Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen has called for a special session of the Nebraska Legislature to start on July 25, 2024. Gov. Pillen has been working to garner grassroots support for his new property tax relief plan through town hall meetings across the state.

The Governor’s failed plan this spring called for a 40% reduction in property taxes. Pillen’s new plan isn’t in black and white just yet, but it has been reported he will have a copy available to lawmakers before the special session starts on July 25th.

We do not know what will be included in the Governor’s new bill, however we feel it’s time to ask AAF Nebraska members and our network of advertising, marketing and communication professionals to take action. Now’s the time to take a stand for freedom in advertising!  Urge your State Senator to vote against any kind of advertising tax in Nebraska! Together we can preserve our economic liberty!

As the Nebraska Legislature prepares for Governor Pillen’s special session, it’s crucial to voice strong opposition to taxation on advertising. We encourage you to reach out to Nebraska lawmakers, urging them to recognize the devastating consequences if digital ads tax for businesses across the state is included in the Governor’s new plan. Emphasize the unfair burden it would place on businesses and consumers alike, and advocate for policies that support, rather than hinder, the growth of local businesses and the Nebraska economy as a whole.

A sample letter to lawmakers can be found here.
