AAF Nebraska to Honor Jill Butler as 2025 Silver Medal Recipient

(OMAHA, NE) – The American Advertising Federation Nebraska (AAF Nebraska) is proud to announce that Jill Butler has been selected as the recipient of the 2025 Silver Medal Award, the organization’s highest honor. Butler will be recognized for her outstanding contributions to the advertising industry and community during the 2025 American Advertising Awards | Creative Nebraska show on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 1316 Jones Street in Omaha, Nebraska.

The AAF Nebraska Silver Medal Award is presented annually to a member who has demonstrated excellence in their career, a commitment to creative and original thinking, efforts to elevate the advertising profession, and active involvement in both civic and industry organizations.

A Legacy of Leadership and Service

Butler retired in 2023 after a distinguished career in media and advertising sales. Most recently, she served as the National Sales Manager for TV and digital advertising platforms at Cox Media Omaha. Prior to that, she spent 20 years at Journal Broadcast Group/Scripps Media, holding various sales and management roles as the company transitioned through different ownership structures. She also worked at KPTM/KXVO during the station’s early years, helping to establish Omaha’s fourth commercial broadcast station.

Butler’s career began in Kearney, Nebraska, where she worked as a commercial copywriter at KGFW/KQKY radio before moving into advertising sales at NTV Network. Butler is a graduate of the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

Dedication to AAF Nebraska and the Community

A long-time advocate for the advertising industry, Butler has been deeply involved with AAF Nebraska. She has served in multiple leadership roles, including:

  • Board of Directors – Public Service Chair (1998-2000)
  • 100th Year Anniversary Steering Committee (2005-2006)
  • American Advertising Awards Team (2018-2019)
  • Ongoing Volunteer – Creative Nebraska | American Advertising Awards & Meet the Pros Committees (since 2018)

Her efforts have strengthened AAF Nebraska’s partnerships and expanded member engagement in key events and initiatives.

Butler has also led impactful public service initiatives, notably working on and managing campaigns for Youth Emergency Services and the Aidan O’Neil Foundation for the Prevention of Childhood Cancer. She remains an active volunteer with Completely KIDS, helping to support their mission of empowering children and families to create a safe and healthy community. Butler now after retirement spends more time with her mother, her husband of 44 years, her 2 sons and their families and granddaughter. She is an avid adventurer who loves to travel and to get on a Harley in exciting places across the country.
