Advertising professionals from around the country gathered in Washington, D.C. for Advertising Day on the Hill March 6th and 7th.  AAF members learned about the vital issues facing our industry and took to the halls of Congress to educate lawmakers about the vital role advertising plays in the U.S. economy.

AAF Omaha member Ryan Horn, President of Bullhorn Communications represented our AAF Nebraska clubs. Horn traveled to D.C. to advocate for the rights of advertisers in Nebraska.  AAF District 9 colleagues from  Iowa, Kansas and Missouri were also in attendance for Advertising Day on the Hill.

The events begin February 6th with a reception at the McDermott Building in Washington, the home of McDermott Will & Emery, one of the conference sponsors.  The reception was followed by a dinner featuring Steve Ryan, former general counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on Governmental Affairs and former deputy counsel of the President’s Commission on Organized Crime and former Congressman Jeff Miller (R-FL), both from MWE.  Ryan and Miller set the stage for the conference by discussing the new realities in Washington after the last two elections.

Thursday morning Advertising Day on the Hill attendees from across the country were briefed and prepared for afternoon meetings in the offices of their Senators and Representatives.
Ryan Horn personally met individually with Senators Deb Fisher and Ben Sasse and Congressman Don Bacon. Horn shared the AAF’s support to National Privacy Standards and AAF’s stand that advertising is essential to a vibrant U.S. economy and should remain a currently deductible business cost. Nebraska has a dynamic and growing creative community, crucial to our business community, our future growth, our unique culture.
