(Omaha, NE, February 19, 2021) The American Advertising Federation Omaha (AAF Omaha) announces the winners for Silver Medal, Ad Pro and Ad Rookie of the Year. Ray and Jan Dotzler, from Dotzler Creative Arts and the Creative Center received AAF Omaha’s top honor the Silver Medal Award. The Dotzlers were honored during the virtual 2021 American Advertising Awards | Nebraska ADDYs awards show, Thursday, February 18, 2021.
The Silver Medal is given to an AAF Omaha member who has achieved success in his or her career, has shown a consistently high degree of creative and original thinking in work endeavors, has strived to increase the stature and raise the standards of the advertising profession and has been active in civic groups, including AAF Omaha itself.
Ray and Jan Dotzler have been developing the next generation of thoroughly trained creative talent for the advertising industry for more than 27 years while operating the Creative Center, college of art and design, in Omaha. Mr. Dotzler is the President and Chief Operating Officer of the Creative Center. He is also the owner of Dotzler Creative Arts, an award-winning design studio. Dotzler has taught at Creighton University, College of Saint Mary, and the Fashion and Art Institute of Dallas at Omaha. Jan Dotzler, Vice President, and Instructor at the Creative Center is a published, award-winning illustrator with more than 40 years of experience in the graphic design and advertising fields. She has illustrated children’s books in addition to creating numerous editorial and whimsical illustrations throughout her career. The Dotzlers met in art school and have been married for 43 years. They have shared their commitment to educating and training young artists and graphic designers performing a service for the local and regional advertising community that is totally distinctive.
Bob Mancuso, Jr., Mid-America Expositions, Inc. was recognized as Ad Pro of the Year and Aubrey Schieuer, Nebraska Medicine was honored as Ad Rookie of the Year during the virtual American Advertising Awards | Nebraska event on February 18th.
The Ad Pro of the Year award is given to an AAF Omaha member who has a distinguished track record of service in advertising including professional and community service, with attention to AAF Omaha service. Bob Mancuso, Jr. the Chief Financial Officer and Director at Mid-America Expositions, Inc. has been named AAF Omaha’s Ad Pro of the Year. Mancuso joined Mid-America Expositions, Inc. in 2005. Mid-America Expositions, Inc. produces trade shows, events, and festivals. The Omaha Health & Wellness Expo, the Taste of Omaha, the Nebraska Balloon & Wine Festival are a few of their shows. Mancuso is also the Chairman of the Greater Omaha Sports Committee which produces the Outland Trophy Award Dinner among other events. Mancuso has been a board member of AAF Omaha since 2011. He was on the Public Service Committee from 2012-2018, the Membership Committee from 2018-2020, and currently serves as co-chair of the AAF Omaha Legislative Committee.
The Ad Rookie of the Year award is given to an AAF Omaha member with five or fewer years in the advertising business who demonstrates outstanding work both professionally and in the community with attention to AAF Omaha service. Aubrey Schieuer graduated from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln in 2015. Schieuer started her advertising career at Bozell as an intern. After her internship’s conclusion, she worked at Envoy, Inc. as an Account Coordinator/Copywriter. Schieuer currently is a copywriter at Nebraska Medicine. Along with patient stories and marketing materials, she writes articles about health topics, especially COVID-19. Schieuer has been actively involved with AAF Omaha since 2017. She served on AAF Omaha’s Public Service team, the American Advertising Awards | Nebraska team and she’s currently volunteering to co-lead AAF Omaha’s quarterly book club “AdReads”.
Ray and Jan Dotzler, Bob Mancuso, Jr. and Aubrey Schieuer come highly recommended by their peers and colleagues for demonstrating outstanding work ethic as well as dedication in advocacy to AAF Omaha. “Each in unique ways are an incredible force in the Omaha advertising community,” said AAF Omaha’s Chairman of the Board, David Lempp. Lempp, on behalf of AAF Omaha’s membership thanked the four award winners for their continued dedication to AAF Omaha and for their contributions to the Nebraska advertising industry during the American Advertising Awards | Nebraska on February 18th.
