Creative Center Students Win in American Advertising Awards

OMAHA, NE (March 3, 2020)  The Creative Center (CC) would like to congratulate 12 students who won 19 awards in the 2020 Nebraska American Advertising Awards.
CC students won a total of 19 awards at this year’s American Advertising Awards (affectionately called the ADDYs), sponsored by the American Advertising Federation. Students entered original creative projects into competitive categories which were judged by professionals in the field. The competition is tiered, with state winners advancing to one of 15 district competitions, and district winners advancing to the national level.
“The Student Division of the American Advertising Awards Competition is the most unique national creative awards program ever designed specifically for college students. It allows Students the rare opportunity to compete alongside Advertising Professionals and have their work held to the same exacting standards. The American Advertising Federation is proud to support this Student competition and looks forward to seeing the best work from across North America. I want to personally congratulate this year’s Creative Center student winners,” Steve Pacheco, American Advertising Federation president and CEO.
The Creative Center is a college of art and design in Omaha, Nebraska offering a three-year Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design, and a two-year Associate of Occupational Studies degree in Graphic Design. Students attend class Monday through Friday from 8:30 – 3:30 and learn multiple aspects of graphic design. Every student receives a Mac laptop computer and software (to keep!) as a part of the tuition and fees, and gets plenty of chances to use it exploring as many of the computerized visual realms as possible, from branding to web design, from package design to multimedia, and from advertising to illustration.
“As an advertising agency, it is in our best interest to hire personnel who not only fit into our corporate culture, but those that are up to date in current technology and advertising trends. We recently hired a graduate from the Creative Center who has fulfilled all these demands for our design position, and has impressed us with a strong work ethic and all around capability in multiple design arenas. We couldn’t have made a better choice.”
Andrew Sleight, CEO / Creative Director, Sleight Advertising, Omaha, NE
“I have two daughters who decided to pursue graphic design at different colleges. I can’t believe the quality, additional projects, and variety that my daughter at the Creative Center experienced in only three years as opposed to my daughter who chose to attend a large university, which took much longer.”
Michael Sexton, Father of Henna Sexton, BFA ‘12
