These women are behind some of the most popular ad campaigns and have paved the way for more multicultural advertising and branding.

The Black Enterprise list of Leading Women in Advertising and Marketing highlights the women whose ideas and strategies have placed them at the top of their game, enabling them to make a mark in the advertising and marketing world.

The list is made up of chief executive officers, chief marketing officers, senior vice presidents, executive vice presidents, vice presidents, and directors who are the movers and shakers behind big public brands and private agencies.

These power women are no strangers to risk-taking, speaking up, championing diversity in their respective fields, and implementing creative strategies that provide growth to their agency or company.

Here, BlackEnterprise.com wants you to get acquainted with the women CEOs of advertising agencies who are shaking and stirring things up, setting a standard for excellence and originality, and inspiring upcoming women leaders.

Danielle Austen, Managing Partner & CEO, fluent360
Danielle Austen is proud of her agency’s identity as expert communicators of multicultural insights, behaviors and influence.

“We understand that marketers are seeking ideas and content to reach an increasingly diverse America. That’s the language we speak,” she said in a press release.

Nadja Bellan-White, CEO, Ogilvy & Mather, Africa
Nadja Bellan-White is often described as one of the most powerful women in advertising. For Ogilvy & Mather, she oversees more than 50 markets in Africa with top clients like Coca-Cola and Nestle.

Kimberly A. Blackwell, Founder & CEO, PMM Promotions
This industry executive and thought leader is known for her insight and expertise in the advertising and marketing realms. Founded in 1999, PMM Promotions is a multi-million dollar women’s enterprise handling clients like Nationwide Insurance, Macy’s Inc., and Toyota.

Fay Ferguson, Co-CEO, Burrell Communications Group LLC
Together with McGhee Williams Osse, Ferguson runs Chicago-based Burrell which specializes in the African American market. In 2013, she was inducted into the History Makers, the nation’s largest African American video oral history collection, for her outstanding work in the advertising field.

Verdia E. Johnson, CEO, Footsteps Group, LLC
Johnson’s agency is behind successful ad campaigns including the Gillette Fusion ProGlide Styler, utilizingAndre 3000, Adrien Brody and Gael Garcia Bernal. Her company also convinced IKEA to alter their more singularly-focused communications to include African Americans in one of their ad campaigns, “The Man Cave.”

Monique Nelson, CEO, UniWorld Group, Inc.
Since Monique Nelson took the helm from founder, Byron Lewis Sr., in 2012, she’s continued to increase the brand’s presence as an award-winning heavyweight ad agency. As CEO, she has managed and grown UWG’s integrated marketing, digital and branded entertainment departments.

Carol H. Williams, founder & CEO, Carol H. Williams Advertising Inc.
Williams created her award-winning company in 1986. One of her most memorable ad campaigns is Secret deodorant’s, “strong enough for a man, but made for a woman.”

McGhee Williams Osse, Co-CEO, Burrell Communications Group LLC
McGhee Williams Osse is responsible for spearheading Burrell’s entry into digital and interactive marketing. Under her watch, campaigns have won awards from the Association of National Advertisers and the American Advertising Federation.

Leslie Wingo, Sanders\Wingo Advertising Inc.
Since joining the agency in 1995, twenty-year advertising veteran, Leslie Wingo, has managed campaigns for some of the most well-known American brands including American Heart Association, State Farm Insurance, and Burger King Corporation.
