AAF Omaha Chairwoman of the Board
Laura joined Bozell in 2006 as a business development coordinator and was promoted to manager in 2007. In 2010, Laura was named Manager of Corporate Communications, where she coordinates all internal projects, including new business, Bozell materials, press releases, website content management, social media and Thinking, Bozell’s quarterly publication. Laura is also the account lead for several clients, including College World Series of Omaha, Inc. and Make-A-Wish Nebraska. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree majoring in Journalism and completed her MBA, both from Creighton University.
Under Laura’s leadership AAF Omaha was named the AAF District 9 2016-2017 “Club of the Year”. As AAF Omaha’s Chairwoman, she keeps a watchful eye on all aspects of the federation. She serves as a mentor to our Education and Public Service teams, works with the AAF Omaha Chairwoman’s Council on chapter awards, and has worked tirelessly the past few years helping write award winning club achievement binders.
What do you do in your free time? Any hobbies?
Most of my free time is spent playing with my 2yo and hanging out with my husband. But I do love to cheer on the Creighton Bluejays and volunteer for Make-A-Wish Nebraska.
Cats or dogs?
If I said neither, does that make me a bad person? I like both of them. I just don’t want either. I am the person who has never had a pet. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Favorite AAF event to attend?
AdWars! I am a person who likes to be right. And I love the competition. But win or lose, this event is always a blast.
What was your first job?
Besides babysitting, my first job was Hy-Vee. I spent four years there from 15yo to freshman in college. Oh, unless you count those two weeks that I worked in a warehouse gluing Styrofoam to cardboard when their machine broke down. (Remember when your Gateway computer monitor arrived in a big box but was stabilized by Styrofoam pieces? yeah, that was me.)
What makes a good boss? (If you’re the boss, what makes a good employee?)
I think one of the reasons that I have been at Bozell for so long is because of my bosses. I think that all boils down to trust and respect. I appreciate a boss who trusts me to get the job done and that I can trust and respect as an advisor. Its a give and take that not everyone understands, but it can make or break a work environment.
