University of Nebraska Omaha

I am a full-time faculty member at UNO and the UNO Advertising Club Adviser.  I am proud to say that I became a member of AAF in 2014 and love the opportunities I have each day to share experiences and opportunities with students.

I started my career in broadcasting as a radio news journalist at KMA in Iowa and KFEQ in Missouri. Later, I worked off-air in television media and sales at KPTM and KMTV in Omaha. From there, I entered the corporate world working at First Data Resources as a technical recruiter. They hired me because of my skills in interviewing people, albeit for news stories. That job launched me in a forever dual-background track in human resources and communications.  I’ve held HR and marketing/PR positions in corporations, colleges and non-profit organizations over the past 30 years.  I received APR (Accredited in Public Relations) status and also certification as an SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources).

Over the years, I’ve garnered numerous local, regional, national and international awards for marketing, public relations, broadcast journalism, training product design and community service.  And, along the way, I have worked with some amazing, talented individual team members who have become great friends in business and in life.

After receiving a Master of Arts degree in Communication from the University of Nebraska-Omaha (UNO) in 2004, I began teaching for UNO as an adjunct faculty member. It was clear to me that, in addition to my regular full-time positions, I was receiving a great deal of satisfaction out of teaching.  It became a passion of mine to inspire students.  Ten years later, I am fortunate to have a full-time teaching opportunity in courses such as PR and Advertising Design, Principles of Creative Advertising and Media Writing.  I’m loving it!
