We continue to keep an eye on the Digital Advertising Tax in Maryland. A revision to the bill exempting broadcasters and news media entities and delaying the implementation to January 2022 passed the third reading on April 9th. No matter what happens with this amendment, the lawsuit seeking to invalidate the digital ad tax will continue. There are currently bills being discussed in Arkansas, Idaho, Massachusetts, Texas, New York, Washington, and West Virginia, although none appear to be moving forward. AAF Nebraska has had conversations with the Nebraska Broadcasters Association and the Nebraska Press to prepare for action if any such bill would arise again in Nebraska.
