Interesting note about Nebraska politics – Did you know Nebraska is the only state with a nonpartisan, unicameral legislature? Senator George Norris proposed a constitutional amendment in 1934 abolishing the Nebraska House of Representatives, as having two houses was costly and ineffective. The amendment passed in the 1936 election and the new unicameral met for the first time in 1937. The Nebraska Unicameral does not recognize party affiliation and is the smallest legislature of any US state.
