This first-ever industry summit, hosted by the Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication at Iowa State University, has been developed for professionals in journalism, public relations and advertising in the five-state area and beyond.  Nearly 200 professionals are expected to participate.

The daylong event will also feature other experts from high-profile organizations including Bloomberg News, Meredith, The Des Moines Register, Flynn Wright, the Iowa Freedom of Information Council, Faegre Baker Daniels, TV stations in San Diego and Des Moines, Hearst Media, Cox Media Group and others. “We envision the summit as an opportunity to bring together thought leaders and industry professionals to address the changes in our respective, and related, industries,” Barb Iverson, chair of the Greenlee Advisory Council, said. Iverson, an alumna of Greenlee, is retired president of global public relations firm Weber Shandwick’s financial services industry practice.

Dr. Angela Powers, Greenlee School director, added: “The Greenlee School has a long history of producing graduates who are industry leaders. This summit celebrates that tradition and keeps our focus moving forward as new technologies and strategies are developed.”

Greenlee School faculty, Greenlee Advisory Council members and industry thought leaders from throughout the United States will discuss information on building relationships with elusive audiences, battling fake news, social platforms and how they have changed the communications landscape, and the new challenges of digital advertising.

The conference will be held at the Alumni Center at Iowa State University. Details and registration information can be found here: http://bit.ly/2CUsBPK
