Swanson Russell Begins Construction on Downtown Lincoln Addition
LINCOLN (June 19, 2015) – Swanson Russell, Nebraska’s largest marketing communications agency, started construction on a $3 million, 12,000-square foot addition at its Lincoln offices today. The 53-year-old Lincoln- and Omaha-based agency is constructing a two-story building above its existing parking lot just north of its current location at 1222 P Street.
Mayor Chris Beutler was present at a groundbreaking this morning to celebrate the agency’s growth and renovations as part of the re-invigoration of the P Street District. New Generation Construction will begin building June 22. Estimated completion for the project is May 2016.
“Swanson Russell has been a part of the downtown community since 1962, and we’re committed to staying here and growing here,” said Dave Hansen, partner and CEO at Swanson Russell. “The proximity to the university, retail, dining, and entertainment is a great fit for our employees and clients, and with recent revitalization projects along P Street, it’s an exciting time to live and work downtown.”
The addition adds space for up to 30 new hires in addition to meeting rooms, employee lounges and a presentation room with an exterior patio. The building will connect to the northwest corner of the agency’s current building via a third-floor walkway. The agency will maintain 20 parking stalls and an open courtyard at ground level. Interior renovations are also planned for the existing building and offices. Clark Enersen partners designed the addition to suit the agency’s business goals and culture.
“Today’s agency model requires more collaboration between the different disciplines of our business,” said Brian Boesche, partner and chief creative officer. “The addition and renovations promote a more team-oriented, collaborative environment where interactive, creative, media, public relations, account service, and all of our departments can more effectively share ideas and work together for the benefit of our clients.”
Swanson Russell currently employs more than 100 people in its Lincoln offices and 27 at its Omaha location. The agency services 21 Lincoln- and Nebraska-based clients including Runza, Pepsi, Bryan Health, Reinke, Union Bank and Dorothy Lynch, as well as providing support to the Lied Center for Performing Arts, Mourning Hope, Abendmusik and The United Way. Swanson Russell also works with national clients in five key business areas: outdoor recreation, construction, health care, turf care and agriculture.
“Downtown Lincoln is a big part of Swanson Russell’s culture and what makes our employees excited to work here and live here,” said Boesche. “Our business is committed to the downtown community and we look forward to sharing this exciting development with our neighbors and clients.”
