A little over two years ago, I was sprinting toward the U.S. Embassy in Mumbai, India trying to make it to my visa interview on time. No bags or electronic devices are allowed inside the embassy, so I’d locked them inside my car. To add to my woes, I’d been forced to leave my car in a no-parking zone. I had a thin, plastic folder in my hand, overflowing with the documents I’d been advised to carry to the interview. Read More

Congratulations Bozell 2018 AdWars Champions

AdWars hosted on April 5th was a fun and fact filled event. This team competition tests your knowledge of advertising practices, terminology and trivia. It’s anything but trivial (just ask someone from the 2018 AAF Omaha AdWars championship team from Bozell). It’s a brutal display of seemingly useless terms and acronyms. It’s a grueling and treacherous evening of famous jingles and tag lines. Most of all it’s always fun!
After four rounds of trivia questions and one creative round Bozell was crowned with the new traveling trophy. Read More

Facebook Data Breach | Centro Point of View

In 2015, Facebook learned that a psychology professor at the University of Cambridge violated Facebook’s Platform Policies by passing data from an app he developed (which used Facebook Login to collect private information from user profiles) to Cambridge Analytica, a firm that does political, government and military work around the globe. This activity was not permitted by Facebook—while they do allow the collection of some data by third party apps, they strictly prohibit for this data to be sold or transferred to any ad network, data broker, or other advertiser or monetization-related service. When confronted, Cambridge Analytica acknowledged that they acquired the data, but said it was deleted as soon as they learned of the problem two years ago. Read More

Student Profile | Jase Hueser | University of Nerbaska at Kearney

My name is Jase Hueser. I am originally from Papillion, Nebraska. I have always found art compelling and invested much of my early years into music and drawing. I was pulled in by the duality of art, as it contains both an intellectual rationality and dense emotion. In my junior high years, I discovered the wonders of branding and typography. Understanding what makes a clever logo and more importantly, a successful implementation of an identity had become an obsession of mine. I was thrilled to discover that design was a vocation that I could potentially pursue. Thus began years of experimentation as I studied designers and relentlessly tried my hand at it. Read More
